  8. Schaeffer's, Bardo hired a private detective to obtain her home
  9. address from the California Department of Motor Vehicles and
  10. shot her when she opened the door of her Los Angeles apartment
  11. building. Schaeffer's death stunned Hollywood, prompted stars
  12. to become more security conscious and increased restrictions on
  13. public access to DMV information.
